President-Elect
Doreen Ellen Reitnauer thanked the Club for sending her to the
President-Elect Training Seminar (PETS) program in Orlando last weekend.
It was attended by 400 President-Elects. Next year’s Rotary Theme will be Building Communities, Bridging Continents.
Additionally, in true Rotary spirit, Doreen hosted several ladies from the
Bahamian Clubs who couldn’t find a hotel rooms.
President
Pansy reminded the membership that we are a co-hosts of the End Polio
Now concert on March 25th at 8:00 PM at Guzman Hall on the
University of Miami Campus. Tickets are just $45/person and available from
Karen Vassel or through our co-host, the Rotary Club of Coral Gables. See
flyer below.
President
Pansy also reminded the membership that the Club’s commitment to the Rotary
Foundation is $6,450.00. Foundation Chair Cathy Miller reminded the
membership that we have a South Miami Rotary Foundation which provides
matching grants and funds some Club activities. The Rotary International
Foundation invests all contributions for three years and uses the
investment gain to cover the operating expenses, thereby ensuring 100% of
your contribution going towards Foundation programs.
Annual Giving to The Rotary Foundation:
The importance of The
Rotary Foundation Annual Program Fund because it relates to the future of
District 6990 three years from now. The money contributed this year will
be available for use in both Simplified and Matching Grants during Rotary
year 2012-2013. With your help, our club will meet your Foundation Goal
for 2009-2010.
Linda Kaplan: I
don't remember who in our club worked with Marta Gutierrez but she was our
first contact with Take Stock in Children. I think she and /or her husband
were also in the RC of Coral Gables. Her obiturary is in the Miami Herald,
Monday, 3-8-2010. She was only 56. In lieu of flowers the family is asking
for donations to Take Stock In Children of Miami-Dade 300 NE 2nd Avenue, Room
5501, Miami FL 33132.

A Concert to End Polio
This Concert is
being presented through the generosity of a local Charitable Foundation,
whose mission it is to promote the arts. It is their wish to remain
anonymous. They requested that we focus the Concert exclusively on Rotary
and its efforts to eradicate Polio. Thus it is named "A Concert to
End Polio" in the name of the PolioPlus initiative to "End
Polio Now."
This promises to be a memorable evening
of music with the gentle sax of Dave Koz and the piano stylings of Shelly
Berg, backed by the amazing UM Concert Jazz Band.
100% of the
proceeds for this event goes to the PolioPlus
Program of Rotary International.
100% of the $45
ticket is a tax deductible donation.
Tickets may be
purchased directly from the Rotary Foundation of Coral Gables by clicking
on the secure PayPal button under the flyer. You can use your credit
card, or your PayPal account if you have one. Click on the flyer to

To
earn this credit, Rotarians log on to the site, read up on a range of
subjects, post comments, & submit a form to the club secretary.
How to do a Make-Up On-Line via Rotary eClub One?
Perfect attendance is now possible for every Rotarian with

WORDS
FROM A GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE TEAM MEMBER:
“In
Warsaw, Poland, Woijeich Sierpinski, a Rotary Club President, took
me on a tour that I will never forget. We visited his parent’s house –
where they lived during WW II. There in the kitchen, under a dusty stack
of crates was a secret wood panel in the floor. Woijeich removed
the panel to reveal a tiny room underneath the kitchen floor where his
parents hid their neighbors – a Jewish family – during the war. As I
stood speechless, listening to Woijeich describe how they evaded
the Nazis, I realized the full value of the Group Study Exchange
program.” Ian Oxman, Group Study Exchange member from California. |
