RGSE
Team from Scotland, UK
Rotary International District 1020
District 6990 sent six Floridians on a month-long life enriching trip to
Scotland for one month in October-November 2005, and today we have the Scots
sending us their best and brightest..
What is GSE?
Rotary International provides funding for the trip, and the selected group of
travelers will volunteer their time to learn about the socio-economic status and
culture of another country. During their travels, the group observe their own
professions as practiced abroad, practice appreciation to cultural diversity,
develop professional relationships, exchange ideas and stay with various
local-host families.
Group Study Exchange is a part of Rotary Foundation and is a unique cultural and
vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and
women in the early years of their professional lives. Lasting from four to six
weeks, the program allows them to experience the host country’s institutions and
ways of life and observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop
personal and professional relationships and exchange ideas.
Incoming GSE Team from Scotland, UK, Rotary International District 1020 has 63
clubs and just under 2,000 members is being hosted by our District 6990 from
April 8 - May 6, 2006.
For their 27 day visit, they each give their presentation to fifteen different
clubs. The team will also be the keynote speakers at the District 6990’s
Assembly this Saturday. The five members will be hosted by a dozen different
Rotarians and will manage only two nights off during the entire trip!.
The team gave an excellent slideshow presentation, each taking it in turn to
explain their backgrounds, vocations and aspirations for the future with details
of their home towns, families accompanied to pipe music and a showing off of
their “tattoos.”
