President Mike Mills opened his first meeting as Club president with the delightful task of installing a new member Neal Hirsh, sponsored by Ed Fischer. Welcome Neal!

President Mike reminded everyone of Rotary night at the July 21, Florida Marlins game beginning at 7:00 PM. Tickets are just $30 with $5 donated back to the Club. Additionally, any Club that sells more than 100 tickets will get four onfield box seats and permitted on the field for the pre-game practice. So, invite your friends, family, business clients and let’s make South Miami Rotary’s showing something to remember.

Don’t forget, too, this Friday, July 6, is the Installation Banquet at the Elks Club on Sunset Drive and SW 103 Avenue. 7:00 PM for cocktails, dinner at 8:00 PM. Food, drink and dancing to live music. If you haven’t already done so, kindly RSVP to Donna Gaines at 305-665-6390.

Diana Phillips also reminded the membership of the importance of finding sponsors for the Art Festival now! Since most organizations plan their community service budgets at this time of the year, we need to get rolling on this.

Coming soon . . . John Sorgie will be heading up Football Mania! As you know, Football Mania is a significant fund raiser for out Club and it’s easy to sell. Every member is expected to sell at least ten books and several members will be asked to attend another Club’s meeting and offer their membership an opportunity to participate.

INSTALLATION BANQUET

Circuit Court Judge Israel (Izzy) Reyes will conduct the installation on July 6th.
For those that have not met Judge Reyes, I think you will find him charming and entertaining – Mike Mills

DID YOU MISS A MEETING ‘CAUSE YOU WERE AWAY?

Our club goal is 100% Attendance! If you miss a meeting, it can be made-up within 2 weeks, before or after, of the missed meeting date.

How’s Your Attendance

As most of you know, attendance is a requirement of your membership. Rotary’s by-laws mandate that you must attend a meeting someplace once every seven days and that 50% of your attendance must be at your home Club for each six-month period. If you’ve been remiss, you can expect a phone call from one of the four Attendance Captains assigned to you. The captains are Pansey Graham, Diana Phillips, Felipe Vidal, and Donna Gaines. Attendance should not be a problem as you can now do a makeup meeting online from Rotary’s website: <www.rotary.org>.

For online make-ups:

http://www.rotary.org/newsroom/downloadcenter/pdfs/eclub_list.pdf

Visit www.rotary6990.org to find a club to make up an absence.

Attendance credit for a 30-minute interactive club Web site activity offers an alternative to making up a meeting at another club. To earn this credit, Rotarians log on to the site, read up on a range of subjects, post comments, & submit a form to the club secretary.

For make-ups anywhere around the world when traveling internationally:
