ANNOUNCEMENTS

President Linda pointed out that very few people in the club were willing to do an invocation and expressed the desire to be more inclusive in this part of the program so suggested that all members should feel free to be creative and participate with us whatever manner they wished - an invocation if they wish or an inspirational thought, a poem, a story that inspired us, etc. Dan shared his thoughts about faith and statistics that more than 50% the families in the US identify themselves as non-sectarian. He also mentioned a speaker he heard who spoke about people of Christian, Jewish and Islamic Faiths as well as those of "no faith" and expressed his opinion that many persons are "persons of faith" even though they may not be Christian, Jewish or Islamic.

He shared these words of Pearl Buck on faith:

When men destroy their old gods they will find new ones to take their place.

I feel no need for any other faith than my faith in the kindness of human beings. I am so absorbed in the wonder of earth and the life upon it that I cannot think of heaven and angels.

GET WELL WISHES:
Mike Mills is in the hospital today for a procedure but expects to be back with us next Tuesday.

Suzane Fontana was hospitalized the July 4th weekend and is out of the hospital and we hope she will be back with us soon.
