NEED TO MAKE-UP A MEETING?

Visit www.rotary6990.org
So you missed a meeting, do you know what a great opportunity this can be?

Take the opportunity to make up at another club, meet new and interesting members.

This can be a great opportunity to meet business owners who might be interested in the services that you provide and see how other clubs are growing membership!
For online make-ups:

Attendance credit for a 30-minute interactive club Web site activity. This offers an alternative to making up a meeting at another club. To earn an attendance credit, Rotarians usually log on to the Web site, read online material on a range of subjects, post comments, and submit a form to the club secretary.

Our President Linda Kaplan

Immigration Attorney

WHAT IT’S LIKE ATTENDING THE ROTARY INTERNATION CONVENTION MALMO, SWEDEN

Linda concentrates her law practice on Immigration and Naturalization law and has been practicing law since 1977. She has the following formal education.

  • B.A. in Economics from the University of Florida
  • Graduate Courses in Finance from Florida International University
  • J.D. Degree from University of Florida School of Law
  • LL.M. in taxation from the Graduate Division of the New York University School of Law

While Linda is a successfui immigration and naturalization attorney with a background in finance and taxation, a great deal of her pride comes from her children:

Jesse, age 24, works for Microsoft in Product Development and is engaged to Carolyn Wu, who is in her third year of a four year pharmacy doctorate program.  They will be married next July.

Sara, age 20, is currently a scuba instructor making plans to live and work in SE Asia for six months next year.

Joshua, age 19, is in his first year of college at Brooklyn Poly Tech studying biochemistry and is also an avid photographer.  Her hobbies are scuba diving, kayaking, dancing, biking and adventure travel.

An international convention is awe-inspiring. It covers a gamut of human interest topics including literacy, water, hunger, health, and bridging the world.  During Linda stay in mid-June, the Swedish sun stayed up for 17 hours a day.

Host Hospitality Night was an evening of international fellowship with Rotarians from the host districts at a private home, restaurant, or local Rotary club. Linda was able to wander through a Swedish castle.

Tivoli Day in Copenhagen:  Convention goers spent an enchanting day in beautiful Tivoli, a 160-year-old fairytale garden and amusement park. Events were performances by the Pantomime Theatre, the Tivoli Guards marching in review, a symphony concert featuring famous Nordic musicians, and a fantastic fireworks finale that lit up the sky with the Rotary and convention logos.

The President-elect’s Leadership Luncheon was designed for incoming RI officers, district governors, club presidents and spouses, but open to all convention registrants served as a great opportunity for networking and fellowship for 2006-07 Rotary leaders.

House of Friendship is the heart of Rotary's annual celebration - a showplace of Swedish and Danish design, art, and history. Situated throughout the Bella Center, the expanded House of Friendship was a relaxing place for forming new friendships and networking to promote service projects.
