|
Visit www.ri6990.org to find a club to make up an absence.
Attendance credit for a 30-minute interactive club Web site activity offers an alternative to making up a meeting at another club.
To earn this credit, Rotarians log on to the site, read up on a range of subjects, post comments, & submit a form to the club secretary.
How to do a Make-Up On-Line via Rotary eClub One?
Perfect attendance is now possible for every Rotarian with computer access. Rotary’s eClub One is a full-service online charted Rotary Club. Meetings operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. What an easy way to make up for a meeting that you have missed! During the last Rotary year, Rotary eClub One welcomed more than 120,000 visitors from 161 countries. Of these, about 800 per week participated in one of eClub One’s meeting programs and applied for make-up credit.
Here’s what you have to do to earn make up credit. Go to
http://www.rotary.org/RIdocuments/en_pdf/eclub_list.pdf

Our Speaker Today:
Mark Hart, "Community Arts Program"
Mark Hart is the director of the Community Arts Program at Coral Gables Congregational Church located across from the Biltmore Hotel. He presented to us background information regarding the program and also where the program hopes to grow from here.
In 1985, Dr. Paul Blaney, a church member and University of Miami adminsitrator, initiated the Summer Concert Series composed primarily of up-and-coming artists. Given the sucess, this program soon grew. In 2002, Mark Hart formed the Community Arts Program with the goal of engaging the greater community in outreach initiatives and implementing a Young Musicians' Summer Master Class that provide professional insights and coaching to young musicians by renowed artists appearing in the Summer Concert Series.
In 2002, the CGCC Community Arts Program Conservatory for the Arts was formed. This program provides after-school instruction to children ages 8-18 on instrumentals, music theory and performance. In 2011, an additional component was added to include recording projects, art of studio musicianship and production and marketing. This resulted in the first CAP records release by the All Star Jazz Ensemble titled "With a Swing!"
The program goal is to not only place an instrument in the hands of children, but to teach them the creative process is only as valuable as their passion, discipline and commitment.
