Rotary Leadership Institute

The Rotary Leadership Institute was created to serve Rotarians who are possibly two or three years away from taking a leadership position in their club; not necessarily that of the president but perhaps in an officer or director slot or as a committee chair.  The second page of the attached brochure provides an outstanding overview of what RLI is all about.

Further information can be obtained via the RLI Sunshine Division website at www.RLITraining.org  You may also register online there for the RLI session(s) being conducted in Weston at American Intercontinental University on February 2 and 3, 2008.

You are encouraged to review the brochure and website at your convenience, and then circulate this information to everyone in your Rotary club.  We look forward to seeing you at AIU in February.

Today’s speaker was introduced by President Mike Mills…

All ABOUT ROTARY
By

Ed Fischer

We have all joined Rotary for one reason or another.  Some of us have been Rotarians for weeks; others for months and some of us have been Rotarians for years.  If asked what we know about Rotary, some of us may know very little, while others know more and still there are others among us who possess a great deal of knowledge about Rotary, yet, don’t have the opportunity to share that knowledge.

Today we are going to learn a great deal about being Rotarian from our speaker in his talk entitled, “The Ideal Rotarian!”

Our speaker is our very own Ed Fischer.  A Rotarian since 1982, Ed is a past president of the RCSM and a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.  Over the years, Ed has served the club as Bulletin Editor, Program Chair, Public Relations Chair, Membership Chair, Director of Club Service, and Director of Vocational Service.  Additionally Ed has served District 6990 as Chair for the Membership Education and Retention Committee, the District’s Foundation Committee, the Planned Giving Committee and has been a presenter at the District Convention, the S4TL program and President-Elect Training Seminar (PETS.)

As most of you know, professionally, Ed wears two hats.  He is Vice President of Speak Out, Inc. – a marketing communications and training company – and an Adjunct Professor for Florida International University’s Speech Communications Dept. Ed holds a Bachelor of Professional Studies Degree from Barry University and a Master of Science in Adult Education/Human Resource Development from Florida International University.  When it comes to Rotary, Ed says, “that which you share, multiplies; that which you withhold, diminishes!”

What is Rotary?
Business or professional with a feeling of obligation to give back to the community.  World peace through understanding.
Mission:
To promote the concept of service as a worthy endeavor.
To strengthen and expand Rotary in communities around the world
To fosters unity among member clubs

Clubs support the member

1908 – 2nd club in S. Francisco
1910 – Winnipeg, Canada

Rotary is the largest service club but Lions is the oldest.
